“I was brought into the world of painting and music by my grandfather” says Jana.
“His name was Antonín Dvořák, and apart from his name it was his love for music that he had in common with the famous composer. He played Violin and loved the region of Pribram, his homeland, just as the great composer did.”
“We used to sit together and draw illustrations to the short stories we would invent ourselves.” says Jana Bierhanzlová.
The dream to paint, which had been supported in the early childhood, would come true much more later though.The busy lifestyle of a professional musician and daily care of the family consumed all of her time. Even though Jana never fully gave up on her dream to paint, it took many years before she could finally bring it to reality.
"I talked often about my desire to paint with my family,until one day, my handy husband crafted an easel for me, as a present for my nameday. Nothing could stop me anymore! Inspiration was coming in waves, sometimes with shorter intervals, then – longer ones;
nevertheless the desire to paint absorbed me completely. Very often I spent hours and hours in front of the canvas, waiting for the right idea or trying to develop myself to the maximum. I am always impatient to see the final result.”
"Colours and shapes - these are the two main domains, that are so different in applied art if we compare them to music.It's an exciting adventure of silence and an intimate touch for eyes and soul."
She says, that painting is another counterpart of musical profession – it brings a different experience and energy, as her mind and soul travel through a different universe.
Jana uses, her school nickname "Žany", to sign her paintings.
